Yet another generous offer by a boat company allows us and then you access to pictures of Mastercrafts 2008 line of X series boats. Director of Marketing John Behling slipped us the link after an interview at surf expo so we could post almost every detail right down to the drain plug changes. Browse through their broad range of different size wake vessels, accessory changes, and graphic stylings. We even included photos of a non-X-Series model which is one of their salt water releases because we heard it is a pretty sweet wake boat.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been releasing content covering Surf Expo 2007. This was the very 1st event that DailyWake has ever covered, and we were pretty happy with the results. In this final entry, we’ll let you know everything we covered and give you links to it as well. Think of this wrap-up story as a table of contents or index of all the content we covered during Surf Expo 2007.

After wading through countless boats, beautiful booth babes, and crazy salesmen trying to tell me why their product was best, I found the Ronix booth. The booth had none of these things. Hell, the booth didn’t have a single board, binding, or salesperson in sight. Ronix was represented by a basic tent that you could find at a simple neighborhood picnic. After talking with team rider Reed Hansen, we got the details on the whole ordeal.

With all the recent momentum Tony Finn and Liquid Force decide to launch their own clothing brand for 2008. It sounds like they are licensing it out to a company with more than 20 years of experience who has even handled some big brands like Rusty. We took a second to find out the scoop from brand manager Allison Millenacker.

While we were walking around covering surf expo we had a rare sighting of long time professional wakeboarder Leslie Kent. Leslie was a stand out womens rider for years and was know for her “ride like a guy” style. She faded off the scene a couple years ago and started her own jewelry company which has always been an interest for her. Strangely enough she was there working for one of her sponsors, Sector Nine Skateboards, and did mention that she was interested in getting more involved again. It would be nice to see her give the girls a good push again like she did back when she was fully involved and winning contests.

Surf Expo wasn’t the only thing going on this past weekend. WakeBoarding Magazine’s 4th annual Wake Awards took place this past Friday immediately following the first day of Surf Expo at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
The event started off with some industry recognition awards like Manufacturer of the Year and Retailer of the Year before moving on to the main 13 awards known as The Wake Awards.
Rusty Malinoski and Brian Grubb took the top spots as Best Wakeboarder and Best Wakeskater. Move of the Year was no big surprise with Chad Sharpe taking it with his sick Double Indy Toeside Back Roll. Best Women’s Rider put Amber Wing on top once again, adding another accolade to add to her impressive resume.
To check out all 13 winners, follow the story link below

Surf Expo 2007 has finished it’s invasion of the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The past weekend was the equivalent to “New Years Day” for the wake industry. Almost all of the new 2008 products were unveiled for the first time. For many of the big companies, it is a chance to really shine and show why they are on top. For the smaller guys, this is their big chance to make some noise and break into the industry with a big bang.
We caught up with most of the top manufacturers and got the skinny on their new line of products. We also were able to corner some of the top pros and most influential people in the industry and force them to do a video interview with us. I think when it is all said and done, we secured about 30 or so video interviews. Keep checking back with DailyWake over the next few days, because we’ll be releasing more and more content on the event.

The ShareWake BETA [externallink] has finally launched. For those of you not geeky enough to know, BETA means that we are currently in an almost finalized ‘test’ mode. Since the website is community based and driven, it is hard to make all of the final refinements until people start populating the website.
So what is ShareWake? Well, it is basically just like YouTube [externallink]. ShareWake is a place for you (or anyone) to post their videos, and view other people’s videos. The site is designed to be “wake-related”. In other words, the site was designed to be a source for people to put their wake-related videos. But that’s just the beginning.
We will be providing a lot of exclusive content from riding clips to news stories and even some event coverage. The ShareWake site will go hand in hand with our DailyWake site as well. This fusion of the two sites will be even more apparent when we cover both the 2007 Surf Expo and Wake Awards this September. We will cover these events with both our DailyWake and ShareWake websites. With the birth of ShareWake, we should be able to take our news coverage to the next level.
Stay tuned for more details.
