Since its inception in 2005, the King of Wake series has made waves on the water, establishing itself as the most prestigious pro wakeboarding circuit in the world, bringing together the sport’s top events into one ultimate season-long points chase. The King of Wake has proven to be so influential within the sport that in just three years after its inauguration, the mirrored female version, the Queen of Wake series, was created.

Malibu riders win Malibu Open - Conspiracy?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Conspiracy?  Nope, not when Phillip Soven and Dallas Friday ride for you.  While Soven’s victory might not be that exciting (the dude is now filling up closet #3 with 1st place trophies), Dallas’ victory is.  It is safe to say that the pro women’s landscape has changed quite a bit since she exited the sport to recover from a near fatal injury.  It is great to see her on top, and I hope the new crop of girls can push each other and the female perspective of wakeboarding that much further.

Canadians rule the final day of Wakestock 2008

Monday, July 28th, 2008

The biggest Canadian wakeboard tournament of the year is in the books, and the hometown boys reclaimed the wakeboard titles from the defending Wakestock champions who were hailing from the US.  Rusty Malinoski defeated the seemingly invincible Phillip Soven in the finals for the Pro Mens Expression Session, while fellow Canadian, Aaron Rathy, took it home on the rails.

The American’s did represent in the wakeskate division though.  Stuart Shinn bested the all-American final which included the likes of Brian Grubb, Reed Hansen, and Danny Hampson.

The men weren’t the only ones on hand as Amber Wing added another impressive win to her increasingly long resume.
