WBM uses Darin Shaprio as bait… And we bite.

Monday, August 4th, 2008

WakeboardingMag.com is sending out a video they put together of the legend himself today.  The catch?  They can’t send it to you if they don’t know your email address!  The solution? Join the mailing list, duh! They’ve already got a teaser clip up of Darin that has peaked my attention.

It’s funny how you can hear a song on the radio day in and day out, and you get tired of it…then like 5 years later you hear the song again and it is almost like magic to your ears…  That’s how I’d describe the video clip.  Seeing Shapiro doing a huge front to blind never felt so good.

Check out the teaser clip and join the list here

The best-selling wakeboard DVD in 2005, 2006 and 2007 is now cheaper than ever.  The Book Instructional Series has issued their first price-cut on their products since they were released.  The best-selling Wakeboard 5-disc box set has dropped from $99 to $59.  They’ve also dropped the Wakeskate 3-disc box set from $64.99 to $29.99!

Along with the price cuts, they’ve also instroduced a new package called The Book Complete.  This is basically a master-collection that features all 5 wakeboarding instructional titles, plus the 3 wakeskate titles, PLUS their mobile DVD [editors note: the mobile dvd is a ipod-friendly version of the wakeboard 5-disc set. Basically it lets you view the 200+ instructional video clips on your iPod effortlessly].  The Complete bundle which used to cost $279.99 has dropped to an astounding $89.99!

Malibu riders win Malibu Open – Conspiracy?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Conspiracy?  Nope, not when Phillip Soven and Dallas Friday ride for you.  While Soven’s victory might not be that exciting (the dude is now filling up closet #3 with 1st place trophies), Dallas’ victory is.  It is safe to say that the pro women’s landscape has changed quite a bit since she exited the sport to recover from a near fatal injury.  It is great to see her on top, and I hope the new crop of girls can push each other and the female perspective of wakeboarding that much further.

IWLA Applauds Passage of Clean Boating Act of 2008

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

The IWLA (named after Izaak Walton) have just helped push through the Clean Boating Act of 2008. The good news is that the act will help cleanup our waterways by forcing such codes such as having to clean you boat entirely (yes the bottom) before you are able to transfer from one body of water to the next.  This helps prevent the spread of “invasive species” that might be coming along for the ride.  The better news is that recreational boaters like you and me are exempt from these new regulations. The major infiltrator seems to be boats traveling internationally for shipping purposes.  Obviously this doesn’t include your recreational weekend warrior boater.  It is nice to see that they are doing something to keep the waterways clean, and that they aren’t just throwing a “blanket” rule over everyone, but instead pin-pointing the probelm and attacking it from there.
