Liquid Force has been churning out their electronic newsletter “The Truth” for some time now. I noticed Wakeworld [externallink] is reporting the 50th edition of The Truth, yet the Liquid Force website claims it is only the 28th edition of their newsletter. After doing a little research, I found that apparently Liquid Force added The Truth to their website in 2006 after already publishing 22 newsletters. So #1 [externallink] on the LF site equals #23 [externallink] on the WakeWorld site and so on.
In The Truth – Number 28 (which happens to really be #50) Liquid Force talks about recent competitions including Wakestock, the Portland Pro Tour stop, and BROstock.

Finally, there’s an affordable digital camera that is waterproof and shock proof. For most avid riders interested in shooting water sports buying a waterhousing for your camera to shoot your friends wakeboarding or wakeskating while sitting on a tube can be pretty expensive, not to mention risky for your non-waterproof camera. The Olympus Stylus 770 eliminates the need to spend extra money on a waterproof bag or plastic water housing which could leak. You can submerge this 7.1 megapixel point and shoot camera up to 33ft (10m) and drop it from about 5ft (1.5m). Entry level wakeboard and wakeskate photography made easy and affordable.

X Games skateboarder Jake Brown walked away from maybe the nastiest fall ever when he plummeted 40+ feet during the X Games Skateboard Big Air competition at the Staples Center in LA [video]. Jake didn’t come out completely unscathed though, the skateboarder did suffer from both a bleeding lung and liver. The hospital is reporting that Jake has stopped bleeding from his lung, but is still bleeding from his liver. Jake is expected to make a full recovery, but the hospital plans to keep him there until the bleeding in his liver stops.

Performance Ski and and Surf is celebrating the sales tax holiday with a surfwear blowout. They are offering numerous items at a discounted price. Headlining discounts are…
- Surfwear – Buy one item, get 2nd item 1/2 off
- Shoes & Sandals – 10%-60% off
- Backpacks & Bags – 25% off
This sale goes on from August 4th-13th (the same dates as the Florida sales tax holiday). To give a little background on the whole sales tax holiday thing, it is a state holiday that gives consumers a chance to do “back to school” shopping without having to pay sales tax. Only certain items ranging from computers, clothing, school supplies, books, etc are able to receive these tax breaks. Also, since this is a state-wide holiday, each state that participates has their own set of rules and dates.
To see if your state celebrates the holiday you can go here

Malibu Boats recently launched their new website today making them the first boat manufacturer out of the blocks to get their 2008 lineup online. There are tons of details on the whole Malibu line including the 7 Wakesetter Series boats which are aimed at the serious rider. Also in the 2008 collection there are two “Entry Wake” boats called the iRide and the vRide. The “Build a Boat” function doesn’t seem to work yet for these two models, but the website says that August 6th they will be available. Some other cool features of the site include a factory tour.

Voting for WakeWorld’s Rider’s Choice Awards has begun. Voting will last throughout the month of August. Anybody can vote, which also enters you to win all sorts of stuff from CWB Wakeboards, Proline, Ten-80, and Sidewayz.
Last year, after a five year run Parks Bonifay finally lost his spot as top male wakeboarder by Danny Harf. Amber Wing made her debut on the list of top female wakeboarders at #4, but could be moving on up after gaining fame as the first female to do a 720. Dallas Friday has dominated the female wakeboarders with the top spot since 2001 (the year of the inaugural Riders Choice Awards). Liquid Force cleaned up by taking best wakeboard, bindings, wakesurf board, vest and handle/rope last year and will be looking to pull a repeat this year.
