On Friday, October 19th the AST Dew Tour Wakeboard Rail Jam made its appearance on the backside parking lot of the Amway Arena (Home of the Magic) in Orlando, Florida. Squeezed in between FMX, BMX Dirt and Skateboard Vert were two very large portable pools making up a step down miniature rail park for ten professional wakeboarders to exploit their skills to a very curious crowd.

Through day two of three in Cancun, Mexico Philip Soven leads the skins format in the pro men’s division of the 5th annual Tige Pro-Am Wakeboard Championships. Soven once again overpowered opponents to position himself as the top seed going into tomorrows final round.

So, we [we - meaning...Kyle] are heading to the Dew Rail Jam tonight at Amway Arena in Orlando, FL. We got media permission to video and photograph the event. Hopefully, we’ll [once again, just Kyle] get some cool slow-mo footage with our HVX200 camera. I’m still not sure how Kyle is going to shoot video footage of the event, organize and shoot interviews, take pictures, and dump memory cards onto his laptop when they fill all at one time. It should be interesting. I’d help out, but I’m on girlfriend birthday duty….yikes. So, we should have something for you on here in the next couple of days. Keep checking back. The cake is not a lie. Well, it’s been in the books for a while now, but Phillip Soven has officially been crowned WWA World Series Champion. Soven completed the task when he won Boardstock XII, being the first to ever sweep the whole series with 5 wins out of 5 events. I can’t recall such domination since someone went after Nancy Kerrigan’s knee over a decade ago [editor's note: distasteful---I know].

NEW YORK - The AST Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour, will host a Wakeboard Rail Jam as a specialty competition with coordination from MasterCraft during the upcoming PlayStation Pro in Orlando, Florida. Ten talented riders will show off their best tricks during the rail jam from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 19. The fifth and final stop of the 2007 AST Dew Tour, the PlayStation Pro, takes place October 18-21 at Orlando’s Amway Arena.

LAKEPORT, CA, BoardStock XII culminated the five-stop World Wakeboarding Association’s World Series with Phillip Soven being crowned the Series Champion behind the power of the Centurion Enzo boat. BoardStock is the world’s largest extreme water sports event in Northern America. Now in its twelfth year BoardStock has been a part of the WWA World Series for three years. Shawn Perry of the WWA said, “This was the first year that Boardstock has culminated the WWA World Series, and it ended with Phillip Soven becoming the first rider in WWA World Series history to win all five stops. Phillip has been riding unbelievably well all season and he made it look easy once again at Boardstock XII. Soven’s heroics netted him a $19,000 dollar payday – not bad a day’s work for the seventeen year-old phenom.

One of the worlds largest grassroots watersports leagues is having their national championships next week in Louisiana. The INT is a league for wakeboarding, waterskiing, kneeboarding and wakeskating and has been around since 1993. They hold regional events, so if your looking to get involved in the competition scene for yourself, your children or friends this is the place to start. They are known as the little league of watersports but have divisions available for all ages and skill levels.
The national championships is a season ending competition that joins all the qualifying competitors from the different regions together to battle it out for national titles in their respective principles and divisions. This years 10th annual event will have close to 500 competitors for both ski and wake combined to make this the largest competition held each year in the world for watersports. Competition starts on October 10 and finishes on the 13th with an awards banquet and dinner that evening. The event will be held closer to the east coast this year at Bennett’s Ski School in Zachary, LA.
