FUEL TV to Air Final Stop of ‘08 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour TONIGHT at 8 PM ET

Orlando, Fla. – Action-sports fans can catch all the high-flying, rail-sliding water-sports action of pro wakeboarding from the comfort of their home, as FUEL TV is set to air the seventh contest of the 2008 King of Wake series, the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour stop in Reno, Nev. The final Tour stop of the year, will premier on Tuesday, September 23 at 8:00 pm ET. (5:00 pm Pacific Time), and will re-air two more times throughout September.

The world’s top riders are geared-up to battle it out on the waters of Sparks Marina in Reno for cash, points and pride.

Tune in to FUEL TV Sept. 23 to watch the exciting conclusion of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour and see who rides away with a win in Reno and the Tour titles. The 2008 Tour titlists will receive the Indmar Performance Award, a $10,000 bonus to the top-points earner in the Pro Men’s Division, a $5,000 prize for the Pro Women’s Division winner and $1,000 for the Jr. Men’s Division champion.

Action-sports fans are now free to go mobile and still catch all the action of the 2008 King of Wake series anywhere, anytime, as full-length episodes are now available on Apple iTunes for fans viewing pleasure. Fans can log-in and download their favorite individual episode for $1.99 or purchase the Season Pass for $14.99.

This summer, FUEL TV brings you the most unbelievable action to come from lakes since Loch Ness. Starting in July, you can catch wakeboarding and wakeskating’s mega-monsters attack the still waters worldwide. Wakeboard King and Queen Share the Throne for the First Time

Orlando, Fla. – In the realm of professional wakeboarding, it may only be the fourth time in history the King of Wake series has crowned a winner for the world’s most elite pro wakeboarding circuit, but for the first time the king is sharing the throne with a female counterpart, the Queen of Wake.

Since its inception in 2005, the King of Wake series has made waves on the water, establishing itself as the most prestigious pro wakeboarding circuit in the world, bringing together the sport’s top events into one ultimate season-long points chase. The King of Wake has proven to be so influential within the sport that in just three years after its inauguration, the mirrored female version, the Queen of Wake series, was created.

Pro Wakeboarder Sets Record with Fifty Foot Ramp-to-Ramp

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (September 13, 2008) – Following up Red Bulls impressive, and well funded, Wake Lab event on Lake Eola Saturday night in Orlando would be a tall order for anyone, but 19 year old pro wakeboarder Kyle Alberts and the crew from Step Up Productions took on the challenge and made history with a 50 foot ramp-to-ramp wakeboard jump over a 40 foot bus using portable pools and a high-speed gas-powered winch. The stunt took place right after midnight at the Wall Street Plaza complex in downtown Orlando. A jump of this caliber involving a high-speed winch is believed to be the first of its kind, and the distance Alberts cleared is record-breaking.

“It feels awesome,” said Alberts. “I’m so stoked that I had this opportunity and that everything came together so well.”

Malibu Launches 2009 Website

After WakeOrigin enlightened us about the Malibu Boats Website errors, we assumed (just as they did) that the issues could be due to the switchover to their new 2009 website.  WakeOrigin says it is a complete overhaul of a website completely new from the foundation up, instead of just a tweak here and there.

New World Champs are Crowned

Oklahoma City, Okla. — Fans packed the shorelines of the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City today to witness the final rounds of the 2008 Rockstar Energy Drink WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra.

As expected, the defending world champ Phillip Soven, 19, of Longwood, Fla. reached the Pro Men’s division finals today and as the top-seeded rider. But the pressure of retaining his title got the best of Soven, as the Florida native posted a score of 82.00, landing him in third-place.
Taking the top spot in the six-man final and claiming the 2008 world title was Rusty Malinoski, 24, of Humboldt, Sask., who became the first Canadian rider to win the world title since Jeremy Kovak claimed it in 1997. Fellow Canadian rider Aaron Rathy of Nanaimo, B.C. finished the contest in second-place.

Pro Women’s Title Up for Grabs with Injured Wing Out; Soven Begins to Defend Pro Men’s Title

Oklahoma City, Okla. — Fans lined the shores of the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City today to catch the opening-rounds of the pro divisions at 2008 Rockstar Energy Drink WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra.

After aggravating a knee injury prior to start of the contest, current women’s world champ Amber Wing shocked everyone by deciding to withdraw from the competition, leaving her title up for grabs to the top 12 pro female rippers in the world.

Amateur Wakeboarders Ride Away with World Titles Today; Pro Wakeboard Divisions Kick Off Tomorrow

Oklahoma City, Okla. — Nine amateur divisions hit the waters of the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City today for the final rounds of the 2008 Rockstar Energy Drink WWA Wakeboard World Championships, presented by Supra.

All eyes were on Edmond, Okla. native Rachel Orgill, as the 12-year-old female ripper looked to win a world title on hometown waters in today’s Girls division finals, but top-seeded rider Megan Ethell threw down some impressive maneuvers to take the top spot and win the world title. Orgill finished in third-place behind Ethell and Taylor McCullough.
