INT League US Championships right around the corner

Friday, October 5th, 2007

INT League

One of the worlds largest grassroots watersports leagues is having their national championships next week in Louisiana. The INT is a league for wakeboarding, waterskiing, kneeboarding and wakeskating and has been around since 1993. They hold regional events, so if your looking to get involved in the competition scene for yourself, your children or friends this is the place to start. They are known as the little league of watersports but have divisions available for all ages and skill levels.

The national championships is a season ending competition that joins all the qualifying competitors from the different regions together to battle it out for national titles in their respective principles and divisions. This years 10th annual event will have close to 500 competitors for both ski and wake combined to make this the largest competition held each year in the world for watersports. Competition starts on October 10 and finishes on the 13th with an awards banquet and dinner that evening. The event will be held closer to the east coast this year at Bennett’s Ski School in Zachary, LA.

Malibu once again has teamed up with Chevrolet to build a special edition Corvette boat. The boat will be offered with either the LS7 or the legendary Z06 engine package. The good news is that the 512hp Z06 option will be in a wakeboard friendly Sport-V boat, unlike the old Corvette boats they made in the past, which were geared towards smaller-wake skiboats. Tony Smith leaves Alliance

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Tony SmithAfter helping launch Alliance Wakeboard Magazine, Tony Smith, the editor of Alliance, is moving on. Alliance broke the story on their website yesterday, and didn’t really give many details on the big change. This is the second big shakeup in the past few weeks for the publication side of the sport of wakeboarding. Just a few weeks ago, WakeBoarding Magazine’s long-time editor, Matt Hickman stepped down, and was replaced by Kevin Michael [externallink]. Tony has been a long time fixture in the sport of wakeboarding, and hopefully he’ll land somewhere else in the wake industry that he worked so hard to build and influence.
