Skier’s Choice [Press Release]
MARYVILLE, TN - Skier’s Choice, Inc, manufacturer of Supra and Moomba inboard towboats, increased production from ten boats a day to eleven as a response to market demand. Each year with the unveiling of new models, from the Supra and Moomba product lines, dealers have continued to demand more product than available. Rick Tinker, President of Skiers Choice explains, “We are very appreciative of the tremendous confidence our dealers showed in our products and team at our recent dealer meeting with record setting orders. We hope to honor their confidence by continuing to produce high quality and reliable products at a great value.”
Tinker contributed the milestone to team members at Skier’s Choice and their efforts to implement Lean and improve quality. Lean education has been a primary focus at Skier’s Choice for much of the past year with a strong emphasis on the application of important lean principles in manufacturing, source quality and material delivery.

This isn’t a big suprise after seeing the market share analysis a week ago…

I guess they are trying to keep the momentum they’ve had recently.

Have you been in a Moomba or Supra in the past year. The quality is outstanding. I think the 24ft. Supra is one of the best wakesurf boats on the market if you have an extra 3000lbs. of ballast. Moomba’s have a killer wake for the price. Don’t get me wrong I like our Malibu a lot but if I had to buy a new boat today, something from Skier’s choice might be in my driveway.

I just wonder how much it hurts them to have all of their resources divided between two competing brands. It would be one thing if Supra and Moomba were going after different buyers, but in the big scheme of things they really compete for a similar chunk of the market.
Still, if they’re having to increase production to keep up with demand, I guess it’s working for them.

I agree that Supra and Moomba are competing with each other. I don’t see Supra as being “high-end”, and I don’t see Moomba as really being “budget-oriented”. Both boats seem to be right in-between both of those claims treading in familiar water with each other. There should be around a $15k-$20k difference in price between the two brands to show more of a distinction.

Maybe Supra is going to continue moving up market to (try to) compete with Malibu, Mastercraft and Correct Craft.
That would make sense with me, especially if Moomba was priced more in line with Tige, Supreme, Centurion, Sanger, etc.
