Slingshot – Surf Expo 2007

2008 Slingshot Recoil 134 We didn’t get a chance to get the inside booth scoop at surf expo but wakeboarder.com [externallink] has a good story you can check out to find out info on the 2008 line of products and changes.

From our perspective, Slingshot is out to make a real statement or change in wake. Both their board designs and bindings designs opened the eyes of the entire industry making a couple of the major companies jump on the band wagon with similar construction. On the board side, this not so new process for pressing boards is making a real buzz in the wake industry and has been used on kiteboards for a few years now and snowboards for many years. It seems like a very durable and flex oriented way to make wakeboards. Hopefully the process won’t limit the possibilities of how they can fashion edge designs and perimeter characteristics.

Slingshot also brought back the four hole insert pattern that was used by some companies in the past and pretty much the entire snowboard industry presently. I sure hope this hole pattern catches on because it definitely reduces heel and toe lift which makes the board much more responsive. That and the fact that you are secured to the board by four bolts instead of two for each binding is always a good reassurance. The overall look and style of the bindings has a very snowboard oriented design which is right on par with the rest of the industry. If thats not enough to get your attention, Slingshot incorporates probably one of the industries easiest stance adjustment systems. With the flip of a small lever you can adjust your stance angle (not stance width) without the use of any tools. Flip it back down and your locked in and ready to ride. Pretty nice.
