Parks Injured Again?

Three prominent professional wakeboarders are now on the injured reserve list due to some incidents on and off the water.

Not Rusty’s X-Ray The newly crowned legend at the WBM Wake Awards, Parks Bonifay, recently blew out his knee while filming on the Ronix surf expo booth rail at the Orlando Watersports Complex. It sounds like Parks was pulled down onto the rail by a snagged tow rope and tore both his MCL and ACL in his good knee on impact. Parks had just recently made his way back from ACL reconstruction on the other knee and a nasty infection following the surgery which led to a lengthy stay in the hospital. After his prolonged year of recovery Parks immediately won the first contest he competed in taking the Carnival title.

Along with that shocking news, top pro tour competitor Rusty Malinoski put his arm through the handle on a fall while riding breaking his arm in the process. After seeing doctors and getting fitted for a cast Rusty went right back to his normal routine of training hardcore.

Last on our injury update, CWB pro team rider Derek Grasman broke his tibia and fibula on a Mastercraft photo shoot September 25th while doing some rock jumping. Derek made his way up the ranks through the junior mens series and has been a strong competitor on the pro tour for the past few years.

Looking on the bright side, all three of these riders have the entire winter season ahead of them to rehab and I’m sure they will be back and seriously motivated for the 2008 season.
