Epic Boats Booth – Surf Expo 2007

Epic 23V GraphicThe good thing about starting from scratch as a wake only boat company is you don’t have to satisfy both skiers and wakeboarders or you aren’t just altering or adding on to boats that were ideal for skiing to keep up with the growing demand for wakeboard specific boats. Epic Boats has definitely designed their line specific to the needs of riders everywhere from the birth of the company in 2002. With that said, lets check out the most innovative boat feature in the industry in our book for 2008 taking a back seat but making a loud statement on Epic’s 23V.

One of the most annoying things for me as a spectator watching riders from the boat is the need to blast tower and interior speakers so the wakeboarder riding, sometimes over 80 feet away, can hear the music. It makes for a very unsocial experience in the boat, plus short periods of hearing damage, and a less than average music experience for the rider in most cases. With the set up on the Epic 23V a group of seperate speakers are positioned on the transom of the boat directly in front of the platform so you can blast the music to the rider without destroying the ears of the passengers and driver. Two separate speakers zones, Finally! Besides the transom audio system the Epic 23V comes standard with a slew of other wake friendly features such as dual rudders, 4000 lbs of ballast and a Resin Infused Composite Construction that makes this boat lighter for trailering but extremely strong in the water. Check out the video for more information on a small company making a big push in the right direction for wake specific boats.

  1. What do you guys think about the new rear-mounted audio system? It seemed like it was getting a mixed reaction at the expo. Some people thought it was cool, while others thought it was lame. It seems like when anyone does something somewhat radical, you are going to get a mixed bag of opinions. Personally, I like the idea. I’m not sure how the other boats on the lake are going to like it though.

  2. I my opinion moving the speakers down is a great idea! I wish I had come across this boat before making a purchase a few months ago because I also like some oth the other ideas incorporated in this boat.

Good work, keep advancing your ideas, in my opinion you’re heading in the right direction for now and the future.
