ShareWake BETA is Launched!

Friday, August 31st, 2007

ShareWake Logo 480px wideThe ShareWake BETA [externallink] has finally launched. For those of you not geeky enough to know, BETA means that we are currently in an almost finalized ‘test’ mode. Since the website is community based and driven, it is hard to make all of the final refinements until people start populating the website.

So what is ShareWake? Well, it is basically just like YouTube [externallink]. ShareWake is a place for you (or anyone) to post their videos, and view other people’s videos. The site is designed to be “wake-related”. In other words, the site was designed to be a source for people to put their wake-related videos. But that’s just the beginning.

We will be providing a lot of exclusive content from riding clips to news stories and even some event coverage. The ShareWake site will go hand in hand with our DailyWake site as well. This fusion of the two sites will be even more apparent when we cover both the 2007 Surf Expo and Wake Awards this September. We will cover these events with both our DailyWake and ShareWake websites. With the birth of ShareWake, we should be able to take our news coverage to the next level.

Stay tuned for more details.

DailyWake is back on track!

Friday, August 31st, 2007

DailyWake LogoAfter a little time off, DailyWake is back on track. We’ve been hard at work building our sister site ShareWake.com [externallink]. Now ShareWake is officially launched into beta (test) mode. There will be small refinements here and there, but overall the site is officially up and running.

More information on ShareWake and how it will integrate into DailyWake in the near future.

Second womens wakeboarder lands 720

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

theChickFlick Raequel Hoffman became the second womens wakeboarder to stomp a 720 while riding on the Delta in California. She now joins Amber Wing as the only two female riders to land two full handle pass rotations on a wakeboard. Wing has been landing Toeside Frontside Off Axis 720’s now since late in 2006 which I’m sure has put some pressure on her competitors. Hoffman stepped up to the challenge and now joins her in landing the same trick.

Raequel Hoffman“It feels so awesome to be the second girl ever to land a 720. I feel like women are doing a lot right now to progress the women’s side of the sport and I’m really glad to be a part of it,” says Hoffman.

Raequel competes on the Pro Wakeboard Tour and finished the season in the top ten. Who will be next to join these two riders or does this start the race to the 900 for the women?

Wired August 07In the August 2007 issue of Wired Magazine there is a review of 4 waterproof cases for your iPod. Most people have already quenched their music listening thirst on the water with the Liquid Tunes MP3 player [externallink] from Liquid Force. For those of you Apple fanatics that MUST USE iPOD, this review will be a good starting point on how to get your beats on the water.

The highest marks in the test were from H20 Audio for Nano 2nd Gen [$80 externallink] and the OtterBox for iPod Nano [$40 externallink]. It wasn’t all about the iPod Nanos though, they also had some soft “bag-style” cases that will accommodate any iPod (or other MP3 player).
